The Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA): educational needs, content, and open educational materials
Europe has spent more than 15 years developing cross-border health data exchange. Much of that work is now embedded in the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The XIA (Xpanding Innovative Alliance) project, which supports the implementation of the EHDS, is making available plenty of ideas, activities, and resources about supportive open educational materials.

XiA launches its Community of Practice
The XIA (Xpanding Innovative Alliance) project is a four-year, European Union-funded Erasmus+ initiative designed to help Europe prepare for the implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The project has launched its Community of Practice.

BeWell provides a rich array of resources: A skills strategy and 12+ digitally-related skills courses
The BeWell project, an Erasmus+ project which focused on the upskilling and reskilling of Europe’s health workforce, held its final conference on 7 May 2026. On the previous day, 6 May 2026, it organised a BeWell Partnership meeting. Marc Lange, EHTEL General Secretary, and Diane Whitehouse, EHTEL Principal eHealth Policy Analyst, attended these two events for you.

Innovation potential of the EHDS: AI and algorithms
Innovation is perceived as one of the key areas of potential in the European Health Data Space (EHDS). At the centre of the 2025 EHDS regulation’s three main aims is for Europe to better achieve purposes that involve the use of electronic health data in the healthcare and care sectors that would benefit society. Innovation is one of the several societal benefits mentioned. In health and care, artificial intelligence (AI) surely provides one of these areas of opportunity.
