    On 19 October 2021 a workshop organised thanks to the support of the AAL Forum and the European Week of Active and Healthy Ageing, explained why the transition towards hybrid care technologies is a solution to ensure the sustainability of Europe’s health and care systems. Using two hospitalisation@home use cases, it showed how the SCIROCCO Exchange tool can help hospital sites with understanding and applying change management approaches.

    During the COVID-19 pandemic more than ever, being safely hospitalised at home has become much more attractive for patients who are recovering from heart failure: it vastly improves their quality of life. For patients, their mental and physical safety is a key advantage of home hospitalisation, whereas increasing the availability of beds and reducing hospitalisation costs are important issues for hospitals.

    Wales’ quick shift to video consulting at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic

    In March 2020, to support the COVID-19 response in Wales, TEC (Technology Enabled Care) Cymru and partners rapidly implemented the large-scale roll-out of a video consulting service. With the COVID-19 pandemic taking hold, and with a nationwide lockdown looming, healthcare professionals needed to have a safe and secure way to continue seeing patients. Introducing video consultations meant that the NHS Wales services could continue in uncertain times.
