Collaborating for Digital Health and Care in Europe

The eHealth Agency is the Luxembourg national agency for the exchange and sharing of medical data, whose main mission is to develop and implement a common interoperability platform to support this data sharing and exchange and to define a national strategy to promote and improve interoperability between health information management systems.

The objective of implementing a national eHealth platform is to facilitate seamless communication between health professionals to support better coordination of care and a more comprehensive and efficient health system. The eHealth platform's main tool for facilitating the sharing of health information is a patient's secure electronic health record that allows authorised healthcare providers to easily access relevant health information.

Andaman7 is a Belgian-American digital health company improving healthcare and medical research for patients, doctors, and researchers. The "Federico II" University Hospital Trust, integrated with the Regional Health Service, is renowned for its healthcare and specialized national activities. The hospital seamlessly blends healthcare, teaching, and research functions, serving as a key component of both the National Health Service and the University. It emphasizes patient-centered care, addressing not only healthcare needs but also emotional, socio-cultural, and psychological aspects.

The hospital's mission includes managing complex pathologies with a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring continuity in emergency and routine diagnostic-therapeutic services. Casa di Cura Igea, located in central Milan, is a fully integrated multi-specialty clinical center, specializing in neurological care. The 136-bed rehabilitation clinic and 12-bed day hospital include a Department of Neurorehabilitation Sciences accredited by the Italian National Health System. The center offers services in neuropsychology, phoniatry, neuro-ophthalmology, psychiatry, radiology, biological analysis, and rehabilitation through  aTechnogym and a swimming pool. Supported by Regione Lombardia, it aims to provide comprehensive care for neurological patients.

In digital health, Casa di Cura Igea focuses on personalized medicine, innovative rehabilitation methods, and integrated care services. The "MOTION LAB" collaborates with Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa to enhance neurorehabilitation through technology. The "LIVING LAB" simulates home environments for occupational therapy and health technology evaluations, while the "NEUROBIOLOGY LAB" studies molecular changes in neurological patients. The BIOBANK collects biological samples to support research. A robust ICT infrastructure supports clinical and research activities, enabling participation in various research projects funded by public institutions and private companies.

It is recognized for its advanced clinical computerization, having achieved EMRAM Stage 6 on the HIMSS scale.

In digital health, the CHU of Liège emphasizes a paperless and filmless environment and the maturity of its Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. It supports hospitalization at home, integrating digital tools to facilitate remote patient care. The hospital also prioritizes the Electronic Care Document (ECD) as a central component in its new care network, aiming to enhance interoperability and continuity of care.
