Are you a public health officer or a university hospital staff member? xShare needs your inputs: answer its Public and Population Health Datasets survey by 15 September 2024.

The xShare project aims to empower individuals to share their health data effortlessly through the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF) with a simple click of the Yellow Button. By enabling data portability rights under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the European EEHRxF will facilitate safe and trusted sharing of health data, thereby fostering research and innovation in the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

What is the xShare survey aiming for?

The objective of this survey is to obtain a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of public and population health datasets collected across European member states. Additionally, xShare aims to assess their potential connection with the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF) referred to in the European Health Data Space regulation.

The goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the registries where data are continuously collected and to identify priorities and objectives for new public health data collection. Additionally, xShare hopes to document existing best practices to support the “only once” strategy, which aims to prevent duplication of data and enhance data quality.

The results of this survey will be used to consolidate use cases associated with the current EEHRxF, consider possible adaptations and identify new critical information domains for public health. These results would be reused by other major initiatives, and potentially influence the drafting of the implementing acts that are foreseen in the future.

Who can participate?

Inputs from all EU Member States are welcome, and also from EEA member states, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. For each country, datasets already identified by Sciensano, the Belgian Institute for Health and an xShare partner organisation, are listed by the project. What is of interest to xShare is the data that is not yet available. This information can be provided by public bodies responsible for data collection, as well as by clinical organisations or professionals required to supply the data.

If you feel you are not the appropriate person to answer some or all of the questions, you are invited to forward the survey to the most suitable respondent.

The survey is open until September 15, 2024.  xShare will be continuously monitoring the responses received from each country.
